We are Year 2 and 3 learners at Ruapotaka School in Auckland, New Zealand. We have lots of different cultures in our classroom and we try hard to use the values of respect, responsibility, resilience and integrity in our learning, thinking, behaviour, words, actions and attitude. Our teacher is Mrs Golder.

Congratulations and ano te pai tamariki!
Rooms 3 and 5 studied Body Parts and Senses during Term 3. We created a movie about the importance of our body parts (arms, legs, hands, feet and so on) and senses (hear, smell, taste, touch, see) to connect with each other, to understand ourselves and our world around us and to identify all sorts of wonderfully weird and different things in our environment.
We had fun making our movie and we became really good at talking to the camera.
JJ and Cairo received a Principal's Award this morning in the school assembly for their success in learning, while Patience received a Duffy Award for moving up one reading level.
Anthony accepted the Tidy Kiwi Award on behalf of Room 5 who was this week's recipient because the students keep their space clean and tidy inside and outside their classroom and in the surrounding area outside their classroom.
Congratulations and ano to pai to all our tamariki!
Ano te pai, you can be proud of yourselves.
My name is Lebron and I am Maori. The country I belong to is New Zealand. My mum is Maori but my dad is half Maori and half Cook Island.
Room 5 went to the Auckland Zoo with Room 3 to learn about animal body parts and how animals use them to live, thrive and adapt to their environment.
One of our favourite animals was the lion. There were two male lions and one of them came to look at us through its window enclosure. The bigger lion gave a quiet roar but it was still loud enough for the other animals in the zoo to hear the lion say, "We're here and we are the kings of the zoo jungle. Hear us R-O-A-R!
Jonathan came second in the Junior Speech Finals today. His topic was Restaurants and he gave some good advice on how to behave when you are dining out. Jonathan wrote the speech all by himself and I am sure that you are proud of your efforts and achievements. Tino Pai!
This morning Lillyan participated in the school Speech Finals with her topic, Biking. She wrote the speech all by herself and performed well in front of students and teachers. Ka pai!
Eva was a participant in the school's Speech Finals. Her topic was Flowers. Eva is not used to talking in front of a large audience but she memorised her speech and performed well. Ka Pai!
Room 5 tamariki wore their Tongan clothes to celebrate Tongan Language Week. Our Tongan students look absolutely beautiful and proud of their culture.
Ano te pai, Oshin!
Luke received a Thank you! award for his piece of writing on his Dad. Lucky Luke gets to play rugby with his hard-working dad.
Ano te pai, Luke!
Ano te pai, Eva.
Eva again achieved her maths learning goal. Today, Room 5 students had to count back from any number to solve their subtraction problems up to 100.
Another perfect score by Eva, our budding mathematician.
Ano te pai, Eva!
Today's maths lesson was to count backwards to solve subtractions problems up to 50.
It was a little tricky counting backwards when the number is bigger than 20. Room 5 students had to think very hard about the number before.
Look, there's Lorenzo in the queue waiting for his lesson.
Last Friday, Cairo received a digital principal's award at the virtual assembly hosted by Room 7. The award recognises his ability to remember his basic facts up to 10.
At last Friday's virtual assembly Oshin received a principal's award which recognised her achievement in her online learning. In writing, she had to think about using a different sentence starter for every sentence.
Ano te pai, Oshin!
This afternoon's maths lesson with Mrs Teklich was geometry. We learnt to describe the positions of object around us. We used words such as on, behind, under, right hand, left hand, forwards, backwards and many more.
It's good to see our students participating in their online learning.
Ka Pai!
Eva is a clever girl because she knows how to follow instructions during her online maths lesson, and this helped her achieve her learning goal.
Tino pai, Eva!
Luke achieved his learning goal which was to count on from the bigger number even when the smaller number is given first up to 100. I can see your confidence is growing. Once you knew what to do you didn't have to circle your bigger number.
