JJ: Kiwiana Tomato Sauce Bottle

 

I like doing the paper mache of my Kiwiana tomato sauce bottle. Mr O'Brien blew up a balloon for me. I covered the balloon up with newspaper and glue, then I painted it red. I glued the leaves to the balloon.

Group 2 Reading group read a story called 'The Little Yellow Chicken' who had a party with his friends.  As a follow-up to their reading, JJ wrote a story about his party experience:

"On Sunday it was my uncle's birthday and we had a bbq. Then we had a cake with some ice-cream."

Room 3 Presenters

A big pakipaki to the Room 3 presenters who hosted this week's school assembly. They remembered their lines, spoke clearly and with volume. Superb performance tamariki! We are proud of you.👏

JJ writes a story about the blessing of the new adventure playground

 

Last Friday a kaumatua came to bless the new adventure playground with fresh water so that we can stay safe and he said a karakia.

School Assembly Hosted by Room 9

Last week Room 9 tamariki hosted the school assembly. The presenters did a splendid job speaking confidently and clearly to their audience. 

The young students entertained the school by singing an action song called, 'I Saw a Taniwha'. Their performance was super duper. You can be proud of yourselves.

Principals' Award: JJ and Novi

 

At today's whole school assembly JJ and Novi received their Principal's Award. 

JJ's award was for helping his teacher to organise classroom activities. Novi received hers for listening to and following classroom rules.

JJ, Cairo, Patience and Room 5 Receive Awards

 

JJ and Cairo received a Principal's Award this morning in the school assembly for their success in learning, while Patience received a Duffy Award for moving up one reading level. 

Anthony accepted the Tidy Kiwi Award on behalf of Room 5 who was this week's recipient because the students keep their space clean and tidy inside and outside their classroom and in the surrounding area outside their classroom.

During the last lockdown JJ wrote a story about his dad for the Father's Day book award. JJ, you are lucky to have a dad like yours.

Conservation Week: JJ's Recycling

This week is the start of Conservation Week. Today the task was to watch a video, listen to the storyteller narrating the story, Why I Should Recycle? and then write a story about what they learnt from Mr Jones, a character in the story.

JJ Attends His First Hangout Meet

It was lovely to have JJ attend his first hangout meet with his reading group this morning. JJ remembered his phonics and learnt something new today. It was consonant blend. He was able to show me with his hand that a consonant blend is when two consonants join together to make one sound.
