My name is Lillayn. I was born in Auckland city. Both my parents are Niuean. Mum taught me how to speak Niuean. Then I had to teach my dad how to speak Niuean. When I am at home with my parents they teach me about my culture. The culture I identify with is Niuean.

Lillyan Thanks Mrs Shortland

Today was a special day for our support staff. Our school celebrated people like Mrs Shortland, who works hard to look after all our reading resources.
We made a Thank You card for her. We drew lots of colourful flowers and stars and we wrote about the lovely things she does for us like making our sausage sizzles and pizzas, fixing our books and getting our readers ready for us to read.

We like Mrs Shortland because she is kind and nice to us.

Lillyan did a little speech about our card. She told Mrs Shortland that Room 5 learners designed and made the card for her because she is our special support person.

Celebrating Lillyan's Reading Success 👏

Today Lillyan received a Duffy Award at our school virtual assembly. She did brilliantly in her 6 year net test and moved up 8 reading levels since Term 4 2019. She is reading at Turquoise 1 or Level 17. That's a huge jump. Congratulations Lillyan! 👏

Budding Mathematicians

We had a Geometry lesson today. The WALT (We are learning to) was to recognise and identify 2-dimensional shapes.
The students showed their knowledge and understanding of the different geometric shapes by drawing them.
Luke (top left), Lillyan (top right), Eva (bottom left) and Lorenzo (bottom middle).
Love your drawings!😁  I'm really pleased to see you all turn up to this important lesson.

It was lovely to see Lillyan join her reading classmate, Jonathan, in this morning's group reading lesson. They read an ebook called A Small World, which describes the features of different insects that can be found on a tree.
Well done Lillyan for attending your first Hangout Meet.
Well done Jonathan for supporting Lillyan's reading.
