Swimming

We are lucky to have a swimming pool at our school. The weather has been really hot and going swimming in the afternoon is a good way to cool down.

Today we learnt to front float and back float with our flutter board. We had to try to float without kicking. Some of us found it easy to do but some of us found it hard.

Novi is really good at back floats. She hug holds her flutter board and she can float for a very long time.

He rawe Novi!

Zayden is our first Room 5 Duffy Award student.  This week he learnt to use his pointing finger to point to every word and to use the pictures to help him read.

Our First Cybersmart Learning

We had our first Cybersmart learning today with Mrs Grant. We learnt about the Kawa of Care when using our ipad.

We put the ipad close to our chest all the time when we move around the classroom. We hug hold it tightly with two hands. We put it on the table first. Then we pull out our chair.

And when we are sitting on the mat we put the ipad on our lap.

Room 5 is being Cybersmart.

Our First Kiwi Can Lesson

Today was our first Kiwi Can lesson. Our learning goal is to play by the rules in games. We played a game of bowling the ball. We had to try and get each other out by bowling the ball to each other. Some of the rules we had to play by in our activity were to keep our legs spread out, and to bowl with one hand and keep the other hand behind our back.

We have rules so that people can be safe and so people will play fair.

Our Kiwi Can catchphrase for the lesson was, Have a go, have a play,  being fair is the way!

Class of 2020

These are our tamariki in Room 5. This is our first week in school. We were reading a Big Book called 'Smile' said Dad. In the story Dad is taking some family photos. So our teacher Mrs Golder decided to do the same thing. She took a class photo.
